SECOND STOP: VIVERE SUITES

THIRD STOP: FORSTHOFGUT

Hey guys! As I got a lot of questions about our family vacay a few weeks ago, I am so mia, so so sorry…., I thought it would be a good idea of sharing some details of where we stayed and how we managed to travel with our dog and baby with you in this blog post and I hope you like IT!

As our first stay was around about seven hours away from our home by car we thought it would be good to drive over night in order to get Emma as much sleep as she would need. It was just perfect for Emma Rose as I already dressed her in her body and a light leggings when I brought her to bed the night before and around about midnight we started our drive (Emma woke up for a few minutes but as she likes to drive by car she felt again asleep after a short while – I already had fears!! she wouldn´t, haha). Heinz and myself we switched driving but I have to admit that I was so tired all the time so he drove almost the whole distance. We did some short stops and also Zuma was totally fine and slept in his basket. We safely arrived at half past seven in the morning at our beautiful hotel and after we checked in we had a long breakfast with the one and other hot coffee :-). Emma was totally fit as she got a lot of sleep and she loved to explore the new surrounding. The hotel at which we stayed was the Miramonti Boutique Hotel in South Tyrol which was just beyond GORGEOUS. With its only 36 rooms it is a smaller hotel and belongs to the Small Luxury Hotels of the World which was so far never a fail booking through. We stayed there for three nights and were accommodated in the Guest Suite. On my Insta stories I showed you more than one time the beautiful view out of our room and it was quite spacious as well – since having a baby we prefer to book bigger rooms in order to have enough space for the additional baby crib, luggage, dog etc.…

During our VACAY we accommodated in three different hotels so I can say that we lived out of our luggage, I only hang out clothes like thick cardigans, jackets or dresses and I have to say that we managed it quite well without to fall in a big mess, haha…. Don´t ask of how many SUITCASES and bags we had but for two adults (a mommy who loves clothes and shoes ;-), a baby girl with ALLL her toys and a dog (food, bones) we had quite a lot with us. What I also like to bring with me for Emma are several snacks because I was not sure about what the hotels will offer for kids in the afternoon and I don’t want to give her biscuits or cakes every day, I would like to vary with snacks for Emma. She loves to eat fruits so as long as she does I take full advantage of IT J! During our time there we rent bikes, went swimming every day because Emma loves IT so so much and went for walks – the food was amazing and the hospitality of the two owners really great!

Our next stop was just one hour away and we drove closer to the Lago di Garda. Has anyone of you ever been there? We checked in the hotel Vivere for the next three nights which is a small boutique hotel with only six VILLAS in the middle of an old vineyard! I tell you guys, it was BEAUTIFUL and you couldn´t even imagine that a small hotel would hide itself within vineyards! As I am a big fan of South Africa the feeling of the Vivere which I got during our stay totally reminded me to the famous Garden Route in the southern part of South Africa. In the mornings we found a huge breakfast table with self-made food and freshly baked pastries and juices! we were in heaven because I LOVE breakfast! and during your breakfast your room will be cleaned! After we entered our room afterwards it was so well cleaned and smelled sooo good! There will be no lunch or dinner served in the hotel but you will find all the time fresh fruits, nuts or self-baked cakes in front of the pool area and St Pellegrino water! What I also would like to mention is that there are two villas available with fully equipped kitchens, we had such a villa, and were able to prepare Emma some food whenever she needed some! So, after breakfast you can say that you have the whole house, your villa and pool area available for just yourself and the other few guest! Emma loved the pool as she is a little fishy, haha…! You will also find a little spa and gym area in the house! For dinner we went for a short walk each evening and with the help of the owner Edy we found cute little restaurants in which the dinner was sooo good – typical Italian food with nice atmospheres and we also hadn´t the feeling that they were touristic, there were a lot of habitants in which is always a good sign.

For the next five days we drove from South Tyrol to Austria to the hotel Forsthofgut which is only a few minutes away from Kitzbuehel and it is also a great place for skiing in winter. From the Vivere we drove about four hours which was ok as Emma took a short nap and the rest of the time we played in the car and sang some kids music ;-), momlife! Our room was called Natursuite Bergbalance which also had a separate room for kids with two beds in it and for Emma we found there a baby crib. By the way, every time when checking in a new hotel room I have to rearrange a bit in order to be prepared and feel comfortable in as I like it – anyone else so WEIRD like me, hahaha? From our balcony we had a wonderful view to the mountains and you will also see this in my pictures above – it was beyond pretty, especially in the mornings! What I have to point out with this hotel is that it is family friendly which means that they have also a separate restaurant for families (separate children´s buffet available), a mini farm with animals, a game park with red deers, play-area in the house and outdoor for kids, a separate children´s pool and child-care service, as well! So many options! What I have never seen before was such a perfectly designed spa like this from the hotel! WOW, it was beyond!! It has been opened last year and is designed in its smallest detail – access will only be granted for children over 16, so maybe there is also some time for you to relax with a hot cup of tea, fresh fruits, silent background music and a magical view! I was there two times for each time around about an hour, with no treatment, but just to be for my own – it was SOOO good and refueled me with new energy! What you also have is a lot of possibilities in the region in order to get to know your surroundings better, either by car, by bike or by foot. The reception service is very friendly and helpful. We rented bikes one morning and drove about seven kilometers, exhausting but all worth it!

What I also like about traveling together!!! is whether it is a short or long trip that it brings you so much closer together, especially what concerns the relationship between Emma and her daddy –  I love those moments like these so MUCH!

I hope you guys like this post and I could give you a little insight in our family vacay.

In case you have any questions to the above mentioned hotel please feel free to contact me! I would be happy to read your thoughts or if you have already planned a family vacay.

xo, Sabrina

WELCOME TO PARADISE

Happy SATURDAY loves!

Welcome to Paradise, this was my exact feeling when we arrived on our first family vacay abroad!

It´s since over a week now when we returned home from our first family vacation abroad, we went on the MALDIVES. As I got a lot of questions lately on where we stayed at, how we liked it and why we chose this location for our trip I want to answer your questions in this post.

The Maldives, a real dream destination and get-away when you are a fan of white beaches, turquoise water and tranquility. This was our fifth time visiting the Maldives and each time we go there we choose another island because each one is so unique and different. Also, we always have a look for an island which has a dive club as it is a big big hobby of my hubs and was also mine before Emma Rose joined our life.

This time we visited the Furaveri Island Resort which is located in the Raa Atoll and was newly opened one year ago. They have around about 100 villas, Water villas included. We had a new beach pool villa which was definitely a dream come true, everything is quite spacious (155 m²) and bright and you have a direct view to the ocean which was awesome! When we booked so far a hotel room it was important for me that it was spacious as you have a lot of stuff for your baby with you and keep in mind that a baby crib will be put in your room as well and you want to move yourself in any way ;-). When you enter the beach pool villa there is a huge room in which you´ll find on the left hand side a kitchen with coffee machine, electric kettle and minibar and on the right hand side a masterbed with direct access to the sundeck where you have your own pool and sun lounges. The windows are huge and the view is really gorgeous. By entering the room you will also go through your own closet (there are two! separate ones in your room) before entering your spacious bathroom where you will have also two outdoor showers, yes, TWO ;-). They provided a little baby crib for Emma and it was also equipped with a cute mosquito net, she felt very comfortable in and they changed the mats almost every day for her. Every day the room service (there are only men who make up your room) made perfectly our villa and sometimes put also flowers on our bed, dreamy! What was also important for me that it was a baby friendly hotel and all the Maldivians are really, really, really family friendly! They also have a children´s playground (though too early for Emma but we will come to this stage closer and closer).

They only have one restaurant so far but also provide you freshly cooked baby food in case needed. Emma is now in an age in which she wants to try different kind of food and loved eating pasta with tomato sauce, chicken sausages, steamed vegetables, bread with or without butter, potatoes, (sometimes cucumber), slices of water and honey melon, papaya, bananas or Rambutan, like mommy ;-).

In their small boutique you can also buy some diapers. We did so in order to save some luggage weight and of course space.

Don´t forget to bring your own baby medicine with you in case you need something and your baby doesn’t feel well. If you would like to hear my tips, don´t hesitate to ask me.

I hope I could give you a good insight into how our family travel was with our little Rosie Rose and let me know in case you plan to go to the Maledives as well, I can give you some tips!

Can´t wait to plan our next family trip which will be in a few months.

xo, Sabrina

TRAVELING WITH BABY

After spending ten days on the Maledives – let me just say at this point that it was outstanding! (a separate blog post will follow) – we are finally back home since Sunday night. I love to travel but at the same time love coming home again, there is nothing like home and no need to say that I missed my furry little friend like crazy, too!

As this was our first travel abroad with baby and we had a long travel before us, I taught it would be a good idea to give you guys my experiences and tips which I could collect during the time. At the time getting ready to prepare everything for our trip my biggest concern was not to forget something for Emma Rose or to go out of food or something else. Of course, because I had no plan, everything was NEW! So, I spent a lot of time in the internet searching for posts or blogs giving tips on how to travel with a baby but it was hard to pull out the information and what to pack in your hand luggage during the flight what food is concerned. So in this post I summarize everything for you what I packed in and hope that it will be useful for you and your family vacay!

Let me just give you a little background information about our planned trip:

on the way to the Maledives we could book a night flight which left at about 8.00 pm in the evening and we flew with Lufthansa. We also organized about two weeks ahead a baby bassinet for the outbound as well for the return flight and let me tell you that this is quite IMPORTANT to check in advance! An airline has only limited places with baby bassinets per flight and if there is no more baby bassinet available you have to take your baby on your lab the whole flight – well, this information was given to us by our travel agency. After we arrived in Male there was a short bus transfer of about 15 minutes to bring us from the airport to the seaplane airport. There, we waited for about one hour in a lounge which was quite comfortable as they had air-conditioning and complimentary food and beverages (on this point noted that it is NOT the norm as it depends on which hotel you book yourself in and if this hotel has a lounge or lounge facilities at the airport, so I would advise you to check in advance if this is important for you – if your hotel has no lounge at the airport, just for you to know that everything is quite open, so no air-conditioning but a lot of fans on the ceiling, as well you will find there small shops). Our seaplane left on time and with two short stops on other islands we arrived forty minutes later at our resort).

For this trip I packed my hand luggage/diaper bag as follows:

diaper bag (I used this model here):

– two bottles for milk, I used these ones as they were lightweight)

– one bottle for tea/water

– four teabags (boiled water as well as water bottles you will get in the plane)

–  (in case you don´t want to prepare milk this is a good option as this is a ready one)

– milk powder & corresponding spoon for it

– four fruit snacks, Emma loves these ones

– one of this for breakfast

– three fruit bars

– one glas of a menu

– snacks like thisthis or these rice snacks (I put a little box full of it as a mixture)

– 2 spoons

– desinfection wipes

– nose drops

– diaper wipes

– 8 diapers

– diaper creme

– two bodys

– two tights

– two socks

– three bibs

– two swaddles

changing mat (my diaper bag has an integrated, detachable changing mat which is already included in my diaper bag and washable) -> there you will find my blog post about it

One bottle I already filled with fresh water right before the flight, so I only had to put my milk powder into it and was ready to feed Emma while we took off (when we rolled to the runway I put the milk powder in my bottle). I tried to feed Emma as long as the seat belt signs were switched off that means that we reached a flight altitude in which the pressure for ok for the ears because babies can´t make the pressure equalization. (I also did this while flying with the seaplane but tried to give Emma just water and it functioned very well – I sometimes had the feeling that she wanted to drink by herself because she felt it was good for her but maybe just my feeling ;-).) During the flight Emma also ate from my food with, for example a bread roll with butter or some Tortelloni with tomato sauce (I tried to give her just a small amount of sauce because of the sourness in it – she LOVED it). Of course I had too many food with me but I wanted to be sure in any case she didn´t want to eat the food of me – you can never be too much prepared when it comes to your baby, right? :-).

hand luggage bag (I used this model here):

– four more bottles for milk to be on the safe side, the same as above

– angel nest

 blanket

– toys (took Emma´s favorite stuffed animal with me, her favorite book & some small water figures)

– the rest of the snacks which could´t find any more place in the snack box

The baby bassinet will be installed by the flight attendants as soon as the seat belt signs have been switched off after take off. They will also put a fresh linen onto it but it is quite hard so I was glad that I brought my angel nest with me. You will get a pillow as well as blanket for the bassinet as well but as I had my angel nest and I also brought my blanket with I didn’t need it. In the airplane it gets quite cold sometimes so I made sure to bring my own things with on which I was sure how they work.

Concerning how to entertain your baby in the plane I only can say that Emma is interested in quite a few things. She was just a brave baby and smiled a lot with the flight attendants or other guests. As I brought with me her favorite book (is all about farms and the animals who live there) and little water figures (they were new ones), she was quite good entertained. As well she loved to play with magazines, papers, water bottles or just with us. On the outbound flight, as it was a night flight, she slept quite right from the beginning of the flight and for almost seven hours (I know, we can be really happy) and for the rest of the around about three hours we entertained her and it was ok, time went by very fast.  On the return flight, it was a flight which left at 10.40 am (we didn´t get a return flight for the night, unfortunately), it was a bit more difficult but we already prepared us mentally for that. We tried to do different things with her means to read her book, to let her entertain by herself, to show her the small figures (each time a different one), to let her play with shoes, har ties, lip glosses (closed ones of course) and we also got to know a family and our both babies played with themselves. During the time we ate together a several times (baby girl was quite hungry) and two times she slept (she fall asleep on me ones, how I LOVE it,  and slept for almost three hours and the other time was around about one hour. We really can´t complain as she was so brave and I was so proud of her. I had in mine to be relaxed and I am pretty sure if you are, your baby is as well.

Overall it was really a good experience for all of us and took us the fear of traveling with her. She was a lucky baby and it is just a great, great joy to see her discovering new things and to see things from the eyes of her – wonderful

Don´t forget, you are an amazing mama and I am sure you will prepare a perfect trip whether it is a long or a short one.

xo, Sabrina

My husband and me we love to get some time out and do little get aways from time to time, always accompanied by Emma and Zuma. We normally search for locations which are not so far away and which are not longer to drive than three hours from our home. Emma is really a brave baby in the car, I normally sit then with her at the back and play with her and after a short time she falls asleep.

This time our little get away was only for one day but we really enjoyed it and by traveling we keep some nice memories forever. On this Sunday morning, after feeding Emma, I normally plan some time in before going out that she can crawl on the floor, play and drain some energy in order to be prepared for our drive. We arrived at the hotel Traube Tonbach in the Black Forest at around about midday and it was a beautiful sunny day! The hotel consists of an old building in an elegant country house style (the suites have an exclusive Black Forest ambience) and the new building called House Kohlwald and I absolutely can say that I love the modern design of it – you will find also there a private Spa area with a stunning view of the surrounding nature. This view we also had from our room which was gorgeous – a spacious, modern, beautiful furnished room, we found there a bed with bowls and some snacks for Zuma as well and they even provided diapers and care essentials for Emma, this was way too cute. Furthermore, they provided us with some fresh fruits and some sweet snacks.

After having had a light lunch in their restaurant (dogs are not permitted as they have buffet, the same for breakfast) we went for a long walk with Zuma and afterwards relaxed on their pool and each of us had a back massage, dreamy.

Before we headed to dinner, my hubby took some pictures of Emma and myself in the wood and the evening light was just so perfect! Emma´s dress is from Seidenweiss and her headband is from H&M. I love to keep those moments!

The hotel has several restaurants and one of it the so called Schwarzwaldstube, 3-star chef Harald Wohlfahrt, one of Europe’s best chefs, one day we will probably give it a try because we love to try out new restaurants and also visited several times the Palazzo in which the menu is by Harald Wohlfahrt. On this evening we had our dinner in the restaurant called Köhlerstube where are also dogs allowed (only at the first table in the entrance of the restaurant) and had a menu which was just delicious! On this we celebrated our second wedding day and at the end of November we will have our ten years anniversary, wow, time is flying by… After dinner we had a drink at the bar and by arriving our room the beds we pitched, a chocolate was on each pillow and everything was cleaned up – just perfect!

On the next morning I had a surprise for my hubby and a little breakfast was served on our balcony. We went for a walk with Zuma as the nature is just stunning and headed to breakfast afterwards. I have never seen such a huge breakfast buffet before and believe me there is everything what you have ever dreamed of – for me it is freshly squeezed juices, waffles and homemade marmalades.

I love that we were able to stay in such a beautiful hotel and hope to come back one day!

Have you ever visited the Black Forest?

Looking forward reading your comments!

xo, Sabrina

..

Four weeks ago, as you probably have seen on my Instagram feed, we did our first family vacay of four (Zuma included :-)). In this blog post I wanted to share with you some impressions and tipps for your next travel with baby.

The hotel which we visited is called “Mohr Life Resort” in South Tirol and is a beautiful design hotel nestled around the Alps with direct view to the Zugspitze. When traveling Heinz and myself prefer to book small and individual hotels with charm and character. So the Mohr Life Resort was the perfect choice for us and this family trip was Heinz xmas present. I love to give him presents like this because this is something individual and will always stay in your memories, especially the first family trip with your little baby!

A few days before our journey started I ensured myself by calling the hotel again and checked if they will put a baby crib, changing mat, electric kettle and baby towel into our hotel room because this saved me some space in my luggage.

The morning on which we drove to South Tirol I made sure to start the day right after my routine and we made ourselves on our way at around about ten o´clock, the normal time in the mornings when I leave the house with Emma and Zuma to do our errands. She was just a brave baby on our way by car to the hotel which only took us about four and a half hours and was mainly the time on sleep.

On our first four nights we stayed in the hotel room called “Family Suite” which is perfect, as the name already says, for families because you have two separated rooms which each en-suite bathroom that meant a lot of space for our little Emma ;-). The last night we changed the hotel room to the so called “Garden Spa Suite” and it was big room with a beautiful terrace and Zuma loved to go outside whenever he wanted and played around.

I am a big fan of routine because Emma is a more satisfied and happy baby when having her fixed time schedule. So I tried to keep up with it in our holiday as well and make it easier for me as well to travel with baby. Probably you have already read my post about baby´s daily routine and it truly helps me to go through the day more satisfied as a mommy as well.

In our room called Family Suite I put Emma´s crib in the floor so it was in between the two bedrooms and I was able to hear her waking up, in the Garden Spa Suite there was no extra room so I put her little crib right next to our masterbed (she has no issue when we watch TV, she is not a noise sensitive baby, of course we turn the volume down a little bit). It helped me to plan my day after Emma´s nap times as well, I mean to be a mommy means to be a mommy manager, right ;-)? When we went to dinner in the evenings, normally between eight and half past eight, I swaddled her and put her a few minutes earlier before we left in her baby cradle of her stroller and she fell asleep after a few minutes, sometimes she needs to fall asleep more time but then I let her watch what happens outside but don´t talk to her anymore and take her out, to give her the feeling it is no more playtime and she can rest.

Things I always pack in my luggage are for example Sab Simplex drops, Q Tips, thermometer, nail clippers, disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, 50 SPF, diaper cream, baby lotion, diapers, diaper wipes, toys (her favorite ones plus two books) and don´t forget the sun hats.

During the daytime we spent a lot of time in the swimming pool of the hotel and you could Emma watch to be more and more confident with water every day. I liked to watch her to have fun in the water with her daddy and it melted my heart…. As the surrounding of the hotel was so stunning beautiful, the fresh air, the odor of fresh gras, the mountains we went outside a lot and Emma loved to be carried in her Solly Baby Wrap. Sometimes, when I am not in such a good condition, I take her stroller with me so my back doesn´t hurt as much but it depends on my mood. When going to town I normally take my stroller every time.

On the day we drove home again I started my morning quite after my routine, went with Zuma for a long walk and gave Emma some milk afterwards so she was totally done 😉 and she slept afterwards when we drove home. We made a short stop over and walked around with her so she could watch the people and the surroundings and afterwards played a bit in the car with her until she fall asleep again (she likes to look at people, catch their looks and then give them  a big smile, such a cute baby girl). Normally, when she is awake I try to entertain her as much as I can in order that she experiences a lot and normally she becomes tired from all her impressions very fast. I love her her so much and travel with baby is such an awesome experience for me and pretty exciting!

If you have any further questions on how to travel with baby please let me know and I try to answer them.

Have a good day and take care.

xo, Sabrina
